A brief trip to Hokkaido
I met up with a fellow Arctic researcher friend in, appropriately, Hokkaido last weekend. Unfortunately, it was a too-warm 5 degrees most of the time. However, there was lots of snow on the ground. Japanese 7-Spice Soft Serve & Kyoto station
Had Japanese 7-Spice (Shichimi) Soft Serve today in Kyoto. Shichimi is a nice salty, savoury, and a bit spicy blend of spices that is used on a lot of dishes here… And apparently in ice cream too! It was surprisingly pleasant – almost dissapointingly so – because it was more of a nice milk soft…

Okonomiyaki at Tennoji MIO
Okonomiyaki is a famous dish from Osaka made of a batter mixed with cabbage, mountain yam, and deep fried batter bits. Lastly, it is topped with a tangy sauce and plenty of mayo and tuna flakes.

Osaka Shawarma
The only shawarma in Japan. Pretty good. I’d put it between 10-15 on my ranking of shawarma establishments.
